The Institute of Creativity (IOC) of HKBU co-organised with the World Culture Organisation a Young Geniuses Art Competition to promote and develop young children’s creativity through an open visual arts competition and exhibition. The event also raises the awareness of parents and teachers on the significance of nurturing children’s creativity. An award presentation ceremony and exhibition were held last Saturday (4 February).

Officiating at the ceremony were Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dominic Lam, the Fung Hon Chu Endowed Chair of Humanics of IOC; Professor Eva Man, Acting Director of the Academy of Visual Arts; Dr. Vanessa Li, Senior Curriculum Development Officer (Visual Arts) of the Education Bureau; and Mr. Laurence Tam, Former Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

About 700 art works were submitted showcasing the children’s imagination, emotion, life experiences and creativity through intuitive and unsophisticated drawing and painting techniques. All together, five Gold, five Silver, six Bronze, and 48 Distinguished Awards were presented. The awarded art works are now on display at the Dr. and Mrs. Sze Chi Ching Exhibition Gallery on Shaw Campus until 29 February.
